i just have to say....

...that target has some of the best stationary i have come across. it is cute, it is affordable (cheap in fact) and it is blank inside.

....that i can never pass up peering drooling over the pastry counter whenever i walk into dean and deluca...or whole foods while we are on the subject.

....that big fluffy clouds on a bright warm day are always worth a photo...

...that occasionally, i have dreams about cooking with Julia Child in her kitchen. (waking up is always such a disappointment)

....that I can often be found at the national zoo ....

...and the national gallery of art, for they are two of my favorite places in the world.
(typically one can find me with the orangutans)

i have many other favorite places on earth and i would just like to say, i will be in one of them in less than three days. but that is for another post...

things i love: creative horticulture

Back in November, I posted about Flora Grubb and her amazing terrariums (found here.) Since then (and a little bit before) I have been collecting inspiration for a way to fulfill my love of horticulture and all-things-green, but lack of greenhouse/garden space. (pinterest has been a HUGE help in the collecting... big thanks to Amy at boundless fille for introducing me to this amazing outlet!) I still believe terrariums to be a great fix, but here are some other ideas as well..

Warm-Weather Weeks

the past few weeks have been a fine mix of sunny, warm, and rainy (which is good, because as you can see, our grass is VERY green.) the sunny days have provided me with plenty of wonderful days out- sitting in the grass, grilling out, and all in all  just enjoying the pre-summer weather. bring it!

artichokes with butter and lemon sauce

like what you see? for fabulous flavored corn on the cob, do a "half-way" husk, remove the silk/hairs, and rub with olive oil. sprinkle with Old Bay and throw on the grill for about 10 minutes, or until bright yellow ( and a little chared)

BiggPoppa in the Flea Market side of Eastern Market

Chai Spice Kettle Corn. Amazing!

inside the market. waiting for the most amazing crabcake sandwiches. (they were closed. bummer)

meat-cuts that would make any meat-eater drool...and most veggies convert.
